"Hiss... hiss... hiss..."

Beware! It's a rattlesnake, and it's rattling its tail.

But nothing can rattles me from creating. Absolutely nothing!
I can endure rejection, navigate the depths of melancholy, and persevere through despair. And yet, I emerge unscathed. Nothing has the power to rattle me. Nothing!

In addition to her role as an artisan, GaYoung also pursues a professional career as a gallery curator.

Prologue
#CDAPOTLUCK, CDA, Seoul, KR, 2022

Bon Appétit!

As the sun steps aside for the moon, deep darkness falls. Hiding reddened cheeks and cold hands under the clothes due to the shivery weather, she hurriedly moved the step lest she was late. Then, around an off-the-beaten-path corner, she went down five to six uneven stairs to a dimly lit basement. When she finally arrived at the place, she quickly threw off the cloak that is thickly covering her body and prepares in a hurry. Strike! Matches made a crackling sound and light a spark. As she lit the small candles one by one, the darkness soon receded, and a warm light took over the space. Soon, colorful paintings reveal themselves.

CDA has arranged a forum for discourse where absurd daydreams and serious comments can be freely shared in the lofty realm of contemporary art. This event, which welcomes everyone regardless of their understanding of contemporary art, is held under the name #CDAPOTLUCK #CDA포트럭. For this purpose, CDA first sent invitations to artists who showed significant activities this year, regardless of their genre: plane painting, three-dimensional sculpture, figurative and abstract. After months of arrangement, we finally received responses from Seoul, New York, and London. A total of 13 artists will be present at the first #CDA포트럭.

POTLUCK is a compound word of ‘Pot’ and ‘Luck,’ is a meal or party where participants must bring and share their own dishes. On the other hand, the word can also be interpreted as food containing good luck. This word was first used in the United States in the late 19th and early 20th century, and now it is commonly used in various countries as a party culture. A notable feature of a potluck is that people can easily converse to each other about the dishes they brought. CDA borrows from this culture mentioned above and brings another cosmopolitan topic, contemporary art, to the table. All the works secret recipes and behind the scenes are fully prepared to greet all the guests. Hope everyone can enjoy and help yourself to the potluck prepared by CDA.

Bon Appétit!
